Formula 3 European Championship race-winner Jehan Daruvala will compete in the final GP3 weekend at Abu Dhabi, joining MP Motorsport.

The Force India F1 academy driver will pilot its third car, joining Devlin DeFrancesco and Richard Verschoor there as the 2018 campaign ends.

Daruvala has spent the year in his second season on the F3 grid at Carlin, finishing 10th in the drivers’ championship with a win in the opening Spa race and five podiums.

He also won at Norisring in 2017 on his way to sixth in the standings.

The Indian has experience with the GP3-16 Dallara car, testing for the Dutch outfit at the same track last December after two days with Arden.

He claimed a best result of second on the morning of day three with MP, before finishing third in the afternoon.

“After my 2017 test, it will be good to gain some more GP3 experience ahead of the 2019 season, and I’m happy that MP has given me the opportunity to do so,” Daruvala said.

“It’s a busy November month for me, adding Abu Dhabi straight after Macau, but that’s only good.”

Daruvala is the seventh racer to enter for MP in the category in 2018 after one-off appearances from Will Palmer and Christian Lundgaard, with Dorian Boccolacci and Niko Kari representing the team before promotions to its F2 line-up.
