Arden has confirmed that Leonardo Pulcini and Steijn Schothorst will join the team to partner Niko Kari for the 2017 GP3 season.

Pulcini is promoted from Euroformula Open, where he won the championship in 2016, taking seven wins throughout the year, including three on tracks on the GP3 calendar including Monza and Jerez.

Schothorst takes part in his second season in the series after racing for Campos last year. The Dutch driver finished 13th in the standings with 36 points, claiming his best finish of fifth place in the British sprint and Malaysia feature races.

He is the first experienced driver to join the team since Emil Bernstorff and Kevin Ceccon in 2015 after running an all-rookie line-up in 2016.

Both drivers joined the team for post-season testing in Abu Dhabi, with Schothorst finishing in third place at the end of the second day and Pulcini completing the final day in the same position.

Arden team manager, Richard Dent, believes that each of their drivers can stand on the top step of the podium in the coming season.

“We tested all three drivers at the end of 2016 and we were very impressed with how each of them quickly integrated themselves into the team,” he said.

“It’s great to secure Niko, Leo and Steijn for 2017, it’s a good combination of series rookies and series experience and I have no doubt that each will be a front-runner and be challenging for race wins. Personally, I’m really looking forward to the upcoming season.”

Arden finished second in last season’s standings behind the dominant ART Grand Prix team, with former drivers Jack Aitken and Jack Dennis consistently finishing on the podium. The team is the first to announce their full line-up for the new season.
