More positions in the GP3 Teams’ Championship could be settled this weekend with results in the Malaysian round of the 2016 season.
There is still a maximum total of 202 points from the remaining two feature races, two sprint races, one remaining pole position and four fastest laps.
A total of 99 points remains available from the weekend in Malaysia, with 103 up for grabs in the final round of the season in Abu Dhabi.
ART Grand Prix are already champions having sealed the crown in the last round in Monza, currently having a total of 469 points after Charles Leclerc claimed pole at the Sepang International Circuit.
They lead Arden International by 270 points. If the team claim another nine points during the weekend, they will break the record total of points for a team to amass in one season. ART set the record of claiming 477 points during last season’s campaign.
The battle for second in the championship will be the main focus for debate, with four teams, Arden, Trident, Koiranen GP and DAMS, all within 61 points of each other.
If Arden claim 81 more points than Trident during both Malaysian races, they will confirm a second-place finish in the championship. A finish in this position would be their best placing in the championship since finishing second in 2013.
They can also confirm a position in the top five if Jenzer Motorsport do not score 31 points more than the team in Malaysia. The highest total of points Jenzer have claimed in one race weekend is 18 in the opening round in Spain.
No other teams can secure a second-place finish before the final round in Abu Dhabi.
Trident, in third on 165 points, could confirm at least finishing fifth if Jenzer, in sixth on 54, fail to outscore them by nine points.
Koiranen GP, in fourth on 137, can guarantee a top-five finish if Jenzer fail to score 21 points more than the Finnish team, while DAMS, in fifth on 116, also have the potential to do this if they claim 42 points more than the Swiss team.
Jenzer can confirm finishing ahead of Campos Racing, in seventh on 31, if they outscore the team by 81 points.
