Alessio Lorandi has been confirmed as a Jenzer Motorsport driver ahead of the next round of GP3 in Malaysia.
The 18-year-old Italian will race in both of the final races in Sepang and Abu Dhabi before preparing for 2017.
He has spent the last two seasons racing in European Formula Three and had a seat at Carlin for seven of the first eight rounds of the 2016 season.
His best result came with a win in the third race at Pau earlier this year, before finishing third in the first race at Zandvoort. Lorandi is currently in 13th place in the Euro F3 Drivers’ Championship on 96 points.
It has not been announced by the team or the series which seat he will be taking, but the usual three-car team did run with only two cars at the last round, with Arjun Maini and Akash Nandy.
He will be the fifth driver to have raced at the team this season and 27th driver to have raced in the series in 2016.
Richard Gonda raced in three of the first four rounds, missing the British round, while Oscar Tunjo raced in the first two rounds before a short return in Belgium. Maini had taken over from Tunjo from Britain onwards.
