Martin dominates Moto3 proceedings on day one at Assen

Jorge Martin ended the first day at the Dutch TT on top, leading the pack going into Saturday’s qualifying session.

The Spaniard has been one of the best qualifiers in Moto3 this season. The Gresini rider has picked up multiple pole positions, and many will expect him to add to it after a good start to the weekend.

Aron Canet ended Friday in second, with championship leader Joan Mir finishing in third. Fourth fastest was Fabio Di Giannantonio. The Italian finished just ahead of Spaniard Marcos Ramirez.

Enea Bastianini, who has had a torrid start to life with the Estrella Galicia 0.0 squad, ended up in sixth. The Italian impressed in both Friday sessions. Aymua Sasaki and Romano Fenati rounded ou the top eight.

Philipp Oettl finished ninth with a time set in FP1, with Jules Danilo finishing tenth.

The Moto3 riders will return tomorrow for the final free practice session and qualifying.
