MV Agusta’s PJ Jacobsen ended the opening hour of running for the World Supersport field at Assen top of the pile, in a session brought to an early conclusion due to an oil spill at Turn 1 in the closing stages.
Jacobsen finally made it to the podium in 2017 last time out in Aragon, and will be keen to continue that momentum this weekend in Holland to truly reignite his title tilt.

The American spent much of the session chipping away at early leader Kenan Sofuoglu’s 1m39.135s, eventually surpassing it by a mere 0.013s in the final minutes to go top of the pile. Yamaha’s Lucas Mahias completed the top three.
Kallio Racing’s Sheridan Morais just missed out on a maiden WorldSSP victory in Aragon, and looks a serious podium threat in the early stages of practice in Holland.
The South African rider ended the morning fourth quickest on a 1m40.127s, with 2015 Assen winner Kyle Smith rounding out the top five. Michael Canducci was a couple of tenths adrift of the Briton in sixth spot, with Gino Rea heading Jules Cluzel in seventh.

Puccetti Kawasaki’s Kyle Ryde edged compatriot Luke Stapleford on his Triumph to ninth, with Phillip Island race winner Roberto Rolfo just outside of the top 10 in 11th.
Federico Caricasulo was a disappointing 1.8s off the pace down in 12th, with Kazuki Watanabe not far off in 13th.
Christian Gamarino threw his Evan Bros Honda at the scenery towards the end of the session and was left stranded in 14th as a result, with Alessandro Zaccone top European Supersport rider in 15th spot ahead of local rider Rob Hartog.
