Jake Dixon and Danilo Petrucci have both completed a one-day Donington Park test as they target WorldSBK returns at the Prosecco DOC UK Round in July.
The outing gives Honda HRC rider Dixon and ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team rider Petrucci a practical fitness check before the championship heads to British soil. WorldSBK confirmed the Donington test, with both riders using the day to assess injury recoveries rather than chase headline times.
Why The Donington Test Matters
Petrucci has been out since a heavy Race 1 highside at Most left him with a fractured coccyx, forcing him to miss Aragon and Misano. BMW still need him to pass a pre-round medical check, but the Italian said the test showed he could ride comfortably again and work properly with his crew.
For Dixon, the timing is just as significant. The British rider returned from a fractured wrist at Aragon but completed only Race 1 before stepping back into rehabilitation and then missing Misano. He completed 70 laps at Donington and said he now feels ready to tackle his home round.
That makes the UK Round more than a calendar stop for both garages. Petrucci would restore BMW’s full-strength line-up, while Dixon gets the chance to restart his Honda HRC campaign in front of a home crowd.
