Bulega concludes Jerez test on top

Sky Racing Team VR46 KTM rider Nicolo Bulega returned to the top of the Moto3 time sheets on the final day of testing from the Jerez Circuit.

The Italian ended yesterday’s running ahead of the pack on a 1m42.234s, and came very close to bettering it in this morning’s session with a 1m46.264s. As the day wore on and the track conditions worsened with the heat, Bulega’s time was never put under threat.

Estrella Galicia 0,0 Honda’s Aron Canet, who was fastest on day one, ends the test second and just 0.074s down on Bulega. Peugeot Saxoprint’s Jakub Kornfeil impressively completed the top three on his Mahindra on Friday, two tenths off of the pace.

Marcos Ramirez showed a strong turn of pace on his Platinum Bay Real Estate KTM on Thursday, and continued to improve today. The young Spaniard was fourth quickest on a 1m46.506s ahead of both RBA Racing riders.

Gresini’s Jorge Martin’s transition from Mahindra to Honda appears to be going smoothly, as the Spaniard was once again looking quick in seventh. Leopard’s Joan Mir led home Marinelli Rivacold’s Romano Fenati and British Talent Team’s John McPhee.

Ramirez’s team-mate Darryn Binder ended the day 11th ahead of Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Bo Bendsneyder, whilst Moto3 debutant Tony Arbolino took his SIC58 Squadra Corse to a respectable 13th. Phillip Oettl and Niccolo Antonelli completed the top 15.

The Moto3 field will be back in action in Qatar on March 17 for three final days of tests ahead of the new season.
