MV Agusta’s Leon Camier endured a tougher time of things in Sunday’s second World Superbike outing , a misdirection with bike set-up robbing him of edge grip.
The Briton’s weekend began dismally. An engine issue forced him into the box after just a handful of laps in FP1, and the team were unable to fix the problem for the afternoon session.

Despite only having 25 minutes of track time under his belt prior to Superpole, Camier was still able to qualify his F4 ninth and battle hard for the podium in the opening race, crossing the line just three second from the lead in fifth.
Starting fourth for race two, Camier was able to get off the line well and run at the sharp-end, but ran into edge grip troubles early in the 22-lap contest.
“We got a decent start, but I think we went in a little bit of a wrong way with the setting and I was struggling to hold onto them at the beginning of the race when everyone had good grip,” he explained.

“The other bikes were turning much better and I was losing so much time on the edge of the tyre trying to turn.”
Camier’s descent through the pack began on the second lap, the MV rider eventually ending up eighth and nine second back from the leaders. Disappointed at the result, he did anticipate Sunday’s encounter to be tougher.
“On Saturday, by the time the race settled down, I was still in the group but this time they were gone from the start. It’s a little bit frustrating but I was sort of expecting it to be harder.”
The 2009 British Superbike champion heads to Thailand sixth in the standings on 19 points, which is a marked improvement on last year when he had just nine points to his name and was 10th in the championship.
