The Barni Racing Team have confirmed Xavi Fores will remain with them for the 2017 World Superbike Championship. This will be the Spaniard’s second successive season with the Italian squad.
Fores has enjoyed a stellar 2016 campaign with the satellite Ducati outfit. The Spaniard took a maiden rostrum at the German round at the Lausitzring in the wet second race, whilst also taking home several fourth place finishes including at his home round in Aragon. He ended the season in strong fashion in Qatar, taking a sixth and an eighth under the floodlights of the Losail International Circuit to secure ninth in the standings on 151 points.

The Barni Racing rider also made a one-off appearance in the MotoGP World Championship as Loris Baz’ replacement in the Avintia Ducati team at the San Marino Grand Prix. Fores struggled to get to grips the Desmosedici GP14.2 in such a short space of time, and unfortunately had to retire from the race after encountering arm pump.
“I’m very happy to be able to race with Barni again next season,” Fores said. “I think another year together is just what we both need to put into practice what we have learned in this season. From the beginning I had a very clear idea of staying at Ducati. Marco Barnabò’s team guarantees me the ability to take advantage of competitive material and able to compare directly with the official teams.
“Our goal for next year is to fight for the podium at every round, even if the level is high. We finished the season with good results. All I can say is important changes await next year and we will be competitive just like the others. Thank you so much Marco and the whole team for the trust. I’m looking forward to our next adventure!”
