Camier to remain with MV Agusta for 2017

British rider Leon Camier will remain with the factory MV Agusta team for the 2017 World Superbike season, the Italian manufacturer have confirmed.

The former British Superbike Champion has been racing in the world’s premier production motorcycle racing series since 2010, making his debut with Aprilia. Camier moved over to MV Agusta for one round in the latter stages of the 2014 season, remaining with the team for the following season.

2016 has seen a major improvement from the Italian manufacturer despite financial issues with MV casting their future into doubt, Camier now a regular fixture in the higher reaches of the top 10. The Briton is yet to visit the podium with MV but has come close on several occasions this year, finishing fourth four times.

“You know I put a lot of work in the last couple of years and I’ve seen the team has grown and improved and everyone’s really passionate about growing and moving forward,” he said

“I think it’s really obvious from the outside that we’ve made some big steps so for me it’s something that I want to see through and try and take it to the next step again I believe in the bike 100% and I believe the bike has the potential to be on the podium in situations so I want to see it through and I have a good feeling with the team and bike and so for me I’m really happy to stay here and become better.”

MV have been running a one-rider outfit for the past two seasons, but there are rumours abound that they could field a second bike next season. It is thought that 2014 World Champion and current Pata Yamaha rider Sylvain Guintoli could join Camier at the Italian team in 2017.
