Pecco Bagnaia has undergone successful forearm surgery during MotoGP’s summer break, with Ducati targeting his comeback at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone in August.
According to a fresh Ducati statement, the Italian underwent an endoscopic fasciotomy on his right forearm this afternoon, performed by Professor Luigi Tarallo’s medical team at the Orthopedic Clinic of the Policlinico di Modena. The operation, confirmed as successful and without complications, targets the chronic arm pump issue that has hampered Bagnaia’s rear-end feel throughout a difficult 2026 campaign.
Marc Marquez’s Dominant Form Adds Pressure To Bagnaia’s Recovery Timeline
Bagnaia goes into the break 65 points off the championship lead in eighth, still without a Sunday win, after Ducati team-mate Marc Marquez cruised to victory at the Sachsenring to close in on series leader Jorge Martin. The double world champion has repeatedly pointed to a lack of rear grip he says has dogged him since round one, a problem he believes Ducati solved for team-mate Alex Marquez earlier in the season.
The surgery comes in a personally eventful week for Bagnaia, who is also celebrating the birth of his first child, Oliviero, with wife Domizia, in what is his final season with Ducati before a planned move to Aprilia for 2027.
With the procedure declared a success, Bagnaia’s fitness will now be monitored through the three-week break, with Ducati hopeful he lines up at Silverstone pain-free rather than risking a repeat of the sixth-place finish that closed out the first half of his season.
