Marc Marquez has cut his MotoGP championship deficit to 40 points after winning the Czech Grand Prix at Brno and says he is now “in the game” again.
The Ducati Lenovo Team rider’s Sunday victory moved the title picture sharply, with MotoGP’s own post-Brno talking points noting that Marquez had been more than 100 points behind little more than a month ago. The result leaves him within range before a difficult Assen weekend and a Sachsenring round he has already identified as a possible launchpad.
Marquez Turns Brno Win Into Title Warning
Marquez called the win “completely unexpected” and said even a podium had felt like an optimistic target before the race, according to MotoGP’s official post-race talking points.
That is what gives this update its weight. This was not just another victory from a proven champion; it reframed the second half of the season. Marquez admitted he still needs to “survive” Assen, traditionally a circuit where he has found life harder even when fully fit, but his wording was still unmistakably bullish.
The German Grand Prix at Sachsenring now becomes the next major marker. If Marquez can limit the damage in the Netherlands and arrive in Germany within touching distance, the championship leader will know the Ducati rider’s recovery is no longer theoretical. Brno has turned a distant comeback into an active title threat.
