Colin Farrell, best-known for his performances in The Penguin and The Banshees of Inisherin, recently spoke with Martin Brundle, sharing his experience at the Miami Grand Prix. During their conversation, he also revealed the first Grand Prix he visited with his friends.

Moreover, he also appreciated Kimi Antonelli and Lando Norris, and showed enthusiasm around how Max Verstappen was managing Red Bull under the new regs.

The Miami Grand Prix ended on a high note, giving the audience thrilling moments, especially on the first and last laps, which could be deemed “absolute cinema.” Antonelli secured his third win after the China and Japan GP. Norris and Oscar Piastri secured 2nd and 3rd, respectively, leaving fans impressed with a papaya double podium.

Verstappen delivered his best result of this season so far, claiming a 5th place, despite getting a penalty. At the moment, Antonelli leads the championship, followed by George Russell, Charles Leclerc, and Norris.

Farrell shares F1 knowledge and Miami Grand Prix experience

In conversation with Brundle, Farrell expressed his delight in meeting the former F1 driver. He said, “It’s lovely to meet you. After all of these years, you don’t write, you don’t call. Look at this shirt. Old school.”

He further shared that he went to his first F1 race in 1998’s Monza, on a holiday package with his two other friends. He mentioned that they took Ryanair flights, went to a “dodgy” hotel, and shared rooms. At the time, he added that there were V10 engines back then. He also recalled that the race was dominated by the Schumacher brothers, with Eddie Irvine ending up in second place.

Expressing his excitement to be in Miami for F1, he elaborated, “It’s mega to be here. Kimi, but it’s great to see Lando coming back. He had a great sprint quali and a great sprint. I love seeing Max figuring out the Red Bull, but I’ll say Kimi for the win.”

Coulthard loved interacting with Farrell

In an interview with the Up To Speed podcast, Coulthard revealed that he met Farrell in the Miami paddock and had forgotten they had previously crossed paths in 1994. The former F1 driver admitted he was “embarrassed” for forgetting the encounter, especially since Farrell, despite being a major star, still remembered it.

Sharing how Farrell spoke passionately about the sport, he added, “But I did an interview with him, and it got to the point where it was almost like we need to wrap now. It doesn’t normally happen with celebrities, but he is truly enthusiastic about motorsports and unsurprisingly very proud of his Irish heritage.”

He was impressed by how Farrell spoke knowledgeably about former drivers, revealing that it’s great to see people attending and enjoying this sport.

In addition to enjoying his time in the paddock and witnessing the on-track battles, Farrell also went on track to take a hot lap, expressing relief at his fashion choice, ie, to wear brown trousers on this VIP experience. He also revealed that it was his first time experiencing a hot lap, expressing both excitement and nervousness.
