Oliver Bearman’s F1 future has reportedly hit a stumbling block, with contract talks between the British driver and Haas slowing over his salary demands.
Bearman is said to be asking for €6m to remain with the American team for the 2027 season, according to Marc Limacher. Haas are reportedly unwilling to meet that figure, creating a gap between the two parties despite both previously making clear they would like to continue working together.
Bearman has become an important part of Haas’ plans since securing his full-time seat and has enhanced his reputation with a series of impressive performances. His Ferrari links also add another dimension to his future, with the 21-year-old remaining part of the Italian manufacturer’s wider driver set-up.
There is no indication that either Haas or Bearman have decided to end their partnership, but the reported salary disagreement means a new deal is not yet a formality.
With teams beginning to shape their longer-term driver plans, resolving Bearman’s situation could become increasingly important for Haas as the 2027 market develops.
For Bearman, a new agreement would provide stability as he continues his development in F1, while Haas would retain a driver they have invested heavily in. Negotiations are expected to continue, with both parties still understood to favour reaching an agreement.
