Haas driver, Oliver Bearman, revealed what he gifted his brother, Thomas, on the occasion of Christmas last year. He revealed that his brother is very young, just 16 years old, and hasn’t yet secured his driving license. While a proper car wouldn’t have been any use to him, given that he wouldn’t have been able to drive it legally, he gave him another gift that solves the car and age issue.

The F1 is currently on an April break due to the cancellations of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian GPs, returning next month as the season heads directly to Miami. Bearman currently stands 7th in the driver’s standings with 17 points. Ahead of the break, at the Japan GP, Bearman faced a brutal crash, losing control of his car and ending up hitting the barriers at Spoon Curve.

At the time, he was attempting to overtake Franco Colapinto’s Alpine, who went in the mid-track. To avoid a dangerous collision, Bearman tried to pull away the car, which eventually went into the grass and struck all the safety boards before hitting the barriers. This horrific crash raised several concerns around safety in the paddock. Coming out of the car, Bearman appeared to have injured his leg as he struggled to walk, but he was fortunately cleared by medical professionals later.

What was Bearman’s Christmas gift to his brother?

In a conversation with the Up To Speed podcast, Bearman revealed that he couldn’t give his brother a proper car for Christmas, as he is very young and doesn’t have a license to drive it. He opted for another car option that he could legally drive around the city.

Revealing what car it is, he added, “But, actually, I got him a little car for Christmas, because in France and Monaco, you can drive certain types of cars when you are younger. So I got it painted. I got his logo. It’s called a Fiat Topolino and the door is a rope.”

He revealed that this type of car is made for the beaches. So, his brother can eventually take it to the beach and park wherever he wishes. He added that Thomas was very happy about the gift he gave him.

What does Thomas Bearman do?

He started his karting career at 8. He made his official racing debut with Hitech Pulse-Eight in the second round of 2024 Euro 4 Championship. A week later, he competed in British F4 for the final two rounds, only securing a single point in a race at  Brands Hatch. Last year, he secured a podium in the final race in Barcelona by coming 2nd while competing at the Formula Winter Series with Hitech TGR. Currently, he races for Van Amersfoort Racing in Italian F4.
