Niko Kari followed up leading the opening GP3 post-season tests at Abu Dhabi to set the fastest overall time of the second day.
Kari – who continued to drive for MP – set a time of 1m54.733s to top the timesheets in the morning session.
This was over two tenths faster than his best from the first hours of the first day’s running, with the Finn the only driver to reach into the 1m54s bracket.
Leonardo Pulcini was second overall but set the best time of the afternoon, a 1m55.210s.
Trident’s Giuliano Alesi – Ferrari academy driver and son of F1 race winner Jean – and Pedro Piquet – son of F1 champion Nelson – had the third and fourth-best times.
Ferrari protégé Callum Ilott was fifth in the combined timesheets, the highest-placed driver to improve in the later hours of testing.
Alessio Lorandi was sixth overall above Force India F1-backed duo Nikita Mazepin and Jehan Daruvala.
David Beckmann and 2016 GP3 race winner Jake Hughes completed the top 10.
Will Palmer – brother of ex-F1 competitor Jolyon – was 16th above Ben Hingeley, who took part for the first time during the current test cycle with Jenzer.
Macau GP nearly man Ferdinand Habsburg was 18th above Max Defourny, who stepped into MP for the first time.
Louis Gachot – son of former F1 racer Bertrand – lapped to 20th for Campos after replacing Thiago Vivacqua.
