alonso_austin_gettyFerrari’s Fernando Alonso has posted on social networking, that people should not pay attention to any contract rumours during Formula 1’s “silly season.”

Recent speculation is that Alonso has demanded a new $50 million per year deal with Ferrari if they wish to keep the Spaniard for another three seasons.

Relationships between Ferrari and Alonso have been strained in the past 14 months, with the Scuderia failing to deliver a championship winning car. This has prompted speculation that Alonso is trying to get out of his current contract, which runs out at the end of 2016.

With Ferrari seemingly going downhill rather than improving, the Spaniard has been linked with a move back to former team McLaren.

However, Alonso has denied the rumours.

“A thing that’s not true, even if is copied a thousand times, will remain false,” he tweeted.

He added: “Always helpful to remember this…”
