Tech3 KTM has signed Australian Moto2 prospect Senna Agius to partner Luca Marini for the 2027 MotoGP season, officially completing the incoming 850cc premier class grid.
The 21-year-old secures the final seat among 22 riders preparing for the championship’s landmark technical reset. Guenther Steiner personally championed the promotion following an impressive intermediate class campaign. Tech3’s bold pivot toward young talent contrasts with recent factory stopgaps, having recently recalled Pol Espargaro in Austria.
Maintaining Australian Premier Class History
Agius becomes the fifth rookie confirmed for the 2027 grid. His arrival safeguards a 43-year continuous Australian presence in the premier class. This streak survives Jack Miller’s impending departure to the World Superbike Championship.
Speaking to Fox Sports, the rider reflected on his promotion.
“A lifelong dream of mine has come true, reaching MotoGP,” Agius said.
Steering Tech3 Through Technical Changes
Steiner praised the Moto2 race winner’s mentality ahead of the machinery overhaul.
“He has shown impressive speed and maturity in Moto2, but what really stood out to us was his determination to keep improving and his attitude towards the work required to succeed,” the Tech3 CEO told motorsport.com.
Agius will spend the winter preparing for testing, while prominent global drivers target the inaugural Race of Champions.
The MotoGP paddock now turns its focus toward the incoming 2027 development war as factories finalise their 850cc engine designs.
