Indianapolis 500 winner Felix Rosenqvist will return to Värnamo this December to honour his historic American oval triumph in a public event alongside championship officials.
The Swedish driver secured Meyer Shank Racing their second win at the famous venue with a dramatic May triumph over David Malukas. His 0.0233-second winning margin stands as the narrowest conclusion ever recorded at the famous Indianapolis venue.
Oval racing has produced staggering conclusions this year, from chaotic late restarts where Kyle Larson claimed Gateway victory to this record-breaking Indiana shootout. The 34-year-old experienced a profound month, welcoming his daughter Stella just twenty days before capturing his maiden oval success.
Speaking to motorsport.com, the driver said: “Celebrating an Indy 500 victory in my hometown will be an unforgettable way to conclude the best year of my life.”
Värnamo Prepares For December Festivities
Local authorities are finalising plans for the free gathering scheduled for 5 December. The municipal programme features live music, stage tributes and extensive motorsports activities in the city centre.
Event organisers hope the gathering will showcase their local community while welcoming travelling open-wheel enthusiasts. While European fans recently watched Lando Norris steal Madrid pole on a temporary street circuit, bringing the prominent series trophy to Scandinavia marks a significant transatlantic showcase.
Series organisers will use the current off-season winter break to continue testing their upcoming chassis configuration before the new championship campaign begins.
