Rinus VeeKay secures historic Juncos Hollinger Racing championship finish

Rinus VeeKay has secured a milestone 10th-place finish in the 2026 IndyCar Drivers’ Championship following a demanding season finale at Laguna Seca.

The 25-year-old Dutchman outscored established heavyweights Will Power and Scott Dixon across the 18-race campaign.

The result shatters Juncos Hollinger Racing’s previous team record, set when Callum Ilott took 16th in 2023.

Financial Hurdle Follows Milestone Result

While VeeKay delivered eight top-10 results and a podium at Milwaukee, the squad faces a stark financial reality.

Team principal Dave O’Neill highlighted the disparity after Sting Ray Robb finished 25th in the #77 Chevrolet, missing out on crucial Leader’s Circle charter payouts.

Speaking to motorsport.com, O’Neill said: “Obviously, there’s disappointment with the #77. We wanted to get that car into the Leader’s Circle and we haven’t achieved that.”

VeeKay protected his championship position during the Monterey decider despite an incomplete fuel fill on lap 14 forcing a four-stop strategy.

His consistency reinforces JHR’s midfield credentials, arriving just as Yuki Tsunoda weighs his future regarding a potential series switch.

JHR’s operational growth was further underlined by their top-10 placing in the seasonal pit-stop performance standings.

The multi-car operation will now regroup for the winter development phase, sharing the grid next year with competitors such as newly crowned IndyCar rookie champion Dennis Hauger.
