Prema retains Zhou for 2018 F3 Season
Ferrari Young Driver Guanyou Zhou will remain in European Formula 3 with Prema for the 2018 season.
The Chinese driver will race in his third season in the series, having spent 2016 racing with German outfit Motopark and 2017 with Prema. Zhou has amassed 7 podiums during his two years and finished in 8th place in last year’s standings.
Zhou joins F3 rookies Marcus Armstrong and Robert Schwartzman at Prema next year. Estonian Ralf Aron also joins the team from Hitech GP after a 9th place finish in 2017. German Mick Schumacher is also expected to race for the team next season.
Team Manager Rene Rosin said that Zhou had “a lot of potential” and was “an interesting prospect”.
“Last season, he produced great racing but we are sure he can perform even better so we can’t wait to see him back on-track,” he added.
“I am really happy to be joining Prema for the 2018 season,” said Zhou.
“The last two years of work have paid off for me and the team has been successful too, so I’m looking forward to a great year together, I feel more than ready for the coming season.”
Zhou will hope that he will be able to perform well in a hotly contested series this year. Macau GP winner Dan Ticktum and Spaniard Alex Palou are some of the drivers touted as potential favourites for next season’s title but Zhou hopes he can add his name to that list.
