KTM’s Miguel Oliveria took pole position for the Moto2 race at Aragon despite having his fastest lap originally cancelled for exceeding track limits.
Controversy ensued as Oliveira was told in park ferme that his lap was cancelled, meaning he would have to start from the third row. However, race control realised they had made a mistake, meaning he would again start from pole.
Mattia Pasini thought he had gained yet another pole, before learning he would again start from second. Alex Marquez was third, with Franco Morbidelli starting from fourth.
Simone Corsi was fifth, with Jorge Navarro sixth. Tom Luthi would finish down in seventh, meaning he has it all to do if he wants to challenge his championship contenders in the race. Marcel Schrotter will start from eighth place on the grid tomorrow.
Sandro Cortese will start from ninth, with Takaaki Nakagami starting from tenth. Dominique Aegerter will start eleventh, with Francesco Bagnaia twelfth.
The Moto2 race tomorrow will start at 11:20 BST.
