Pasini beats Morbidelli to Red Bull ring pole

Mattia Pasini took pole position at the Red Bull ring, beating out Franco Morbidelli by the narrowest of margins.

Pasini took pole by a single thousandth of a second, narrowly faster than his fellow countryman. Morbidelli’s teammate Alex Marquez will join him on the front row, starting from third place.

Francesco Bagnaia will head the second row, alongside Tom Luthi. Championship contender Luthi will be disappointed to not be on the front row, especially after impressing through practice.

Fabio Quartararo will be the final rider on the second row in sixth place. Isaac Vinales continued his great weekend by ending qualifying in seventh, ahead of Miguel Oliveria.

Xavi Vierge took ninth place, whilst Sandro Cortese finished in tenth. Jorge Navarro made a great save to avoid crashing during qualifying and ended the session in eleventh place. Hafizh Syharin will start from twelfth place.

The Moto2 race will start at 11:20 BST from the Red Bull ring.
