Franco Morbidelli tops times in weather-affected session

Franco Morbidelli continued his championship charge by topping the timesheets at the end of Friday practice.

The Italian was on top form, but only finished 0.031 seconds ahead of his nearest rival in Tom Luthi. The Swiss rider finished second at the end of practice, ahead of Miguel Oliveria in third.

Mattia Pasini crashed in FP2, but was unhurt and finished in fourth. The Italian finished ahead of Isaac Vinales, who put in a great ride to end Friday in fifth. Fabio Quartararo was sixth at the end of the day.

Alex Marquez was seventh fastest, after crashing in FP1. Marquez collided with Danny Kent, both being unhurt. Bagnaia also crashed in FP1, but managed to recover in FP2 to finish in eighth position.

Sandro Cortese and Takaaki Nakagami ended the day in the final two spots in the top ten, finishing in ninth and tenth respectively. Hafizh Syahrin was in 11th, ahead of Dominique Aegerter in twelfth.

Moto2 qualifying gets underway at 14:05 BST from the Red Bull ring.
