McLaren prodigy Lando Norris taken a hat-trick of pole positions at the European Formula 3 round at Spa.

Norris topped the second qualifying of the day with a lap time of 2m11.120s, nearly two tenths of a second faster than Prema Powerteam’s Callum Ilott.

His second fastest lap time, which decides the grid for the final race of the weekend, was only eight thousandths of a second faster than Ilott, who will start on the front row of the grid for both races.

Ilott’s Prema team-mates Guanyu Zhou and Maximilian Gunther finished third and fourth. After a strong start to the session, Mick Schumacher dropped down the order to finish 15th fastest.

Hitech duo Jake Hughes and Nikita Mazepin took fifth and sixth, with team-mate Ralf Aron finishing ninth.

Carlin’s Jehan Daruvala spent most of the session at the bottom of the order before jumping up to seventh, ahead of team-mate Ferdinand Habsburg.

Pedro Piquet rounded out the top 10, ahead of team-mate Harrison Newey and championship contender Joel Eriksson. Eriksson’s second fastest time was enough to earn him 10th on the third grid of the weekend, but still a long way behind his title rivals.
