Ameya Vaidyanathan will complete Carlin’s European Formula 3 squad for the remainder of the 2017 season, racing alongside Lando Norris, Jehan Daruvala, and Ferdinand Habsburg.
Vaidyanathan spent the first half of the season competing in the EuroFormula Open championship with Carlin, taking a win and three podiums from the opening four races, and is currently third in the championship.
He aims to run in both championships for the remainder of the year.
“Ameya has been a real asset to our EuroFormula Open team and has really impressed us with his dedication, determination, and results from the season so far,” said racing director Trevor Carlin.
“It’s going to be a whole new challenge for him in the European Formula 3 Championship but we know from experience that he will be putting everything in to the upcoming weekend and the rest of the season.”
“I’m really looking forward to dovetailing my EuroFormula Open commitments with the remainder of the FIA Formula 3 season with Carlin,” Vaidyanathan said.
“The team has been consistently strong this season, and with three fast team-mates in Ferdinand, Jehan, and Lando, I’m grateful to have such a massive opportunity to learn and improve as the year goes on.”
Vaidyanathan with make his on track F3 debut in the official tests ahead of the next round at Spa later this month.
