After a disappointing outing at Catalunya last time out, Franco Morbidelli has returned to form in the early sessions at Assen.
The Italian took first place in the second free practice session, ending Friday on top. He will hope to continue his momentum into tomorrow. This comes after a disappointing weekend in Catalunya, where the Marc VDS rider could only manage a sixth-placed finish.

Behind Morbidelli was Takaaki Nakagami and Tom Luthi, who finished second and third respectively. Alex Marquez would end the day fourth, with fellow countryman Axel Pons finishing fifth.
Miguel Oliveria, on the KTM chassis, ended up in sixth place. Dominique Aegerter was seventh whilst Xavi Vierge was eighth. Lorenzo Baldassarri was ninth, Hafizh Syahrin rounded out the top ten.
Mattia Pasini finished the day in eleventh, whilst Xavier Simeon was twelfth.
The Moto2 riders will return tomorrow for the third and final free practice session, and then qualifying.
