Newey fastest in second day of testing

Van Amersfoort’s Harrison Newey topped the times in the second day of Formula Three preseason testing.

The Brit set the fastest time of the day during the morning, beating yesterday’s best time by nearly nine tenths of a second. Newey, who is aiming for a top five finish in his second season in the championship, also set the fastest time in the afternoon session. Almost everybody was slower after lunch than in the morning.

Callum Ilott, another favourite to take the title this season, finished the day second fastest, only three tenths of a second slower than Newey. Ilott also set his fastest lap in the morning, only managing the fourth fastest time of the afternoon session.

After topping the timings yesterday, Lando Norris was the fastest rookie today, with the third best time overall.
Motoparks’ Joel Eriksson completed the fewest laps, only completing 28 after a quiet morning for the reigning rookie champion. HitechGP’s Jake Hughes completed the most laps, lapping the Hungaroring 82 times over the course of the day.
