Newey to continue with Van Amersfoort

Harrison Newey will continue with Van Amersfoort for his second season in the European Formula 3 championship.

The British teenager made his debut in the championship last season, where he finished 18th in the overall standings with seven points finishes.

Now, with not only a year in the championship under his belt but also having taken the MRF Challenge Formula 2000 title earlier this year, Newey is aiming a little higher.

“The atmosphere at VAR has helped me a great deal to become a better racing driver,” said Newey. “I have no doubt our partnership will lead to new highlights. My goal is to be on the podium as soon as possible.”

Though Newey claims Van Amersfoort is “one of the best” teams in the championship at the moment, it was regularly beaten by Prema Powerteam last season. The team was still able to find some success last season, helping Callum Ilott to sixth in the championship, but Van Amersfoort will once again face strong competition from the Italian team.

Newey will once again be joined at Van Amersfoort by Pedro Piquet, who he beat in the overall standings last season. F3 new comer Joey Mawson will also race with the team that took three race wins last season.
