Motopark’s Keyvan Andres Soori is looking to challenge for the rookie cup in his debut year in the European Formula 3 championship.
The German racer will be set for a tough challenge as he tries to recreate what team-mate Joel Eriksson accomplished last season, with the quality of drivers entering the series set to be high this year. Carlin’s Lando Norris and Prema Powerteam’s Mick Schumacher are among the drivers Soori will be up against.
“My goal is to win the rookie championship, but I know this year is going to be a tough one,” he said. “The most important thing is to improve myself as a driver and my new team Motopark has everything I need to do so.”
The 16-year-old will be making the step up from the EuroOpen Formula, where he raced for Carlin last season. He finished 12th in the overall championship, with a best finish of fifth at Catalunya, and third in the rookie championship.

To help him make the step, Motopark have set a two year programme with Soori, in the hopes to relieve some of the pressure.
“Coming into FIA Formula 3 European Championship is a big step for him,” said team principal Timo Rumpfkeil. “During this winter, we had a sequence of tests with him and he performed very well. As he still is very young, we have created a two-years-plan, so he can develop his skills without any pressure.”
Soori is currently racing in the Toyota Racing Series, running 12th with only three races remaining. The final round of the championship takes place this weekend.
