Jaguar are in talks with a number of drivers for 2016/17 Formula E season when the British manufacturer enters the all-electric sport.
According to Motorsport.com, Jaguar has three main candidates on their driver shortlist. 2014/15 Formula E champion Nelson Piquet Jr as well as multiple Formula E race winner Sam Bird and current Team Aguri driver Antonio Felix da Costa.
Piquet Jr has endured a difficult second season in Formula E, scoring just four points and finding himself down in 15th in the drivers’ standings.
It is understood the Brazilian and Sam Bird both have contracts with their current teams for the 2016/17 season but rumours suggest both can leave their respective teams at the end of the season.
If Jaguar fails to lure their top three targets, there are plenty of other drivers they are reportedly seeking the services of.
These include ex-Formula One drivers Narain Karthikeyan and Anthony Davidson, Piquet’s current teammate Oliver Turvey and Northern Irish racer Adam Carroll.
The 2016/17 Formula E season is believed to start this September in Montreal for the inaugural Canadian ePrix.
