Renault e.dams still the team to beat – di Grassi

Putrajaya ePrix winner Lucas di Grassi admits Renault e.Dams are still the team despite winning today’s race in Malaysia.

The race in Malaysia was affected by high temperatures and these hot temperatures caused the new surface to begin to break up in parts towards the end of the race causing problems for the drivers.

Many of the leading drivers dropped out of the race due to various issues. Sebastien Buemi and Loic Duval retired due to technical problems while Jerome d’Ambrosio crashed on the final lap. This meant the Brazilian driver took the victory in Putrajaya.

di Grassi admits Renault e.Dams is the team to beat but has been impressed with ABT’s progress since the season opener in Beijing.

“I think we’ve improved a lot from Beijing,” said di Grassi in an interview with Motorsport.com

“I had the fastest first and second sector in qualifying, so clearly we made a step from Beijing because we were not fast.

“Now we have to understand what we do to catch up with Renault; they are still the team to beat, it is still the car with the highest performance.

“It’s good to be where we are now, but we have to get back home and started working a lot for the Punte race.”
