Vandoorne leads the way in Spain

Stoffel Vandoorne has yet again impressed and continues his dominance this season with a laptime half a second faster than everyone else in the free practice session in Barcelona. Mitch Evans finished the session in second place, eight hundredths of a second faster than Alexander Rossi.

The grid was complete for the first time this season as Hilmer joined the field in Barcelona with Johnny Cecotto and Nick Yelloly.

Lynn was the early pacesetter of the fairly uneventful and quiet session, until Alexander Rossi took the top spot. Not long afterwards Stoffel Vandoorne went fastest for the first time, only being beaten by Mitch Evans. The Belgian reclaimed the top spot soon on fresh tyres, and remained unchallenged until the checkered flag.

Behind the top three Pierre Gasly, Nathanael Berthon, Richie Stanaway, Rio Haryanto, Alex Lynn, Raffaele Marciello, and Artem Markelov are within striking distance and ready to challenge in today’s qualifying session.
