Two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Larson will race a special 2007 throwback paint scheme at Las Vegas Motor Speedway to honour the late Kyle Busch.
The No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet will replicate the yellow, blue, and red design from 2007. Busch drove that original livery to victory at Bristol Motor Speedway in the inaugural Car of Tomorrow race. A portion of merchandise royalties will finance The Samantha & Kyle Busch Bundle of Joy Fund.
Royalties Support Bundle Of Joy
Larson credited Busch’s fierce competitive record and his dedication to mentoring his son, Brexton, as major inspirations. In comments published by motorsport.com, the 2025 Cup Series champion explained the reasoning behind his tribute.
“To me, it was important to run a Kyle Busch tribute scheme because we shared the same number and I really looked up to him just from the good battles we had,” Larson said.
He added: “Thank you to HendrickCars.com and Samantha Busch, the whole Busch family for allowing us to run this paint scheme to honor Kyle, to show what he meant to me and to the sport.”
Las Vegas Honours Native Son
Busch was born in Las Vegas and secured his sole premier-class victory at his home circuit in 2009. The 63-time race winner died in May following severe complications from pneumonia. In a statement released via Yardbarker, his widow detailed the emotional impact of the upcoming tributes.
“Being back with our NASCAR family under the lights to celebrate his life, his career, and the memories he gave all of us is something we will never forget. I know he will be right there with us that night.”
The 10-race Chase continues at World Wide Technology Raceway on Sunday.
