Pedro Acosta’s comeback from wrist surgery rests on a medical check at the Sachsenring, where the Red Bull KTM rider must be passed fit before Friday practice at the German Grand Prix on 10–12 July.
Acosta underwent successful surgery on his right wrist late last month to treat carpal tunnel syndrome, the issue that left him with pain and numbness in his right hand and forced him out of the Dutch GP at Assen. MotoGP confirmed the operation went well, with the German round immediately pencilled in as the #37’s target for a return.
According to Motorsport.com, Acosta’s recovery has progressed well enough that he skipped a planned follow-up with his surgeons in Barcelona and travelled directly to Germany, where series medical staff will assess the wrist before he is cleared to ride, ten days after the operation.
The timing matters. Round 11 marks the halfway point of the 2026 season, the Sachsenring hosts the final race before MotoGP’s summer break, and the weekend doubles as a checkpoint in a tight title race, with Jorge Martin heading the standings from Aprilia team-mate Marco Bezzecchi at the halfway mark of the season.
A decision on Acosta’s participation is expected once the checks at the circuit are complete, ahead of Friday’s opening practice sessions.
