Gresini Racing has confirmed Joan Mir and Dani Holgado as its 2027 MotoGP line-up, completing a full reset around Ducati machinery before the championship’s next rules era.
The team announcement locks in two sharply different profiles: Mir, the 2020 MotoGP world champion, and Holgado, a Moto2 front-runner preparing for his premier-class debut. Gresini said Holgado will join the project from 2027, while Mir will make statements only after his Honda contract expires on 31 December 2026.
Why Gresini’s Ducati call matters
The move is another major rider-market marker after Yamaha confirmed Jorge Martin and Ai Ogura for its 2027 factory project. Gresini, meanwhile, has also confirmed its multi-year Ducati Corse relationship will continue.
That matters because the structure of the garage will not be equal. Gresini stated that an official factory bike will be available to Mir, giving the Spaniard a clear route to rebuild momentum after his difficult Honda spell.
Holgado’s role is different but just as significant. Gresini owner Nadia Padovani described him as a rider the team has followed for a long time, while Ducati Corse general manager Gigi Dall’Igna framed the partnership as a key part of Ducati’s wider project.
The incoming pairing also confirms the scale of change after Gresini signalled end-of-season farewells for Alex Marquez and Fermin Aldeguer.
For Gresini, this is not only a rider announcement. It is a statement that the team intends to remain central to Ducati’s satellite strength as MotoGP moves towards 2027.
