Alex Marquez’s Assen weekend has been thrown back onto medical watch after Gresini confirmed checks following a heavy Friday Practice crash at Turn 11.
The incident came in the same session that ended with Marco Bezzecchi setting the pace at Assen, but Gresini’s priority quickly shifted from lap time to rider condition. Crash.net reported that Marquez was checked after a second fall of the day, while GPone said an X-ray showed no fracture, with a right-shoulder contusion and left-arm abrasions listed.
Gresini’s Saturday risk is now obvious
Fermin Aldeguer’s position is more uncertain. The Race reported that he was taken to hospital for further checks after his own violent fall, with chest and back pain the immediate concern.
The timing is awkward for Gresini. Marquez had only just returned from the neck and collarbone injuries suffered in Catalunya, then withdrew from the Czech GP after qualifying. Now, even with a clear scan, Assen’s fast direction changes make Saturday’s Q2 and Sprint a physical audit rather than a routine continuation.
For Ducati’s wider MotoGP picture, the disruption is not cosmetic. Marquez’s direct Q2 place still matters, but Gresini must decide how much risk is justified when both sides of its garage have already been hit before qualifying has begun.
