Pedro Acosta will join Marc Marquez at the Ducati Lenovo Team for the 2027 and 2028 MotoGP seasons, giving Ducati a blockbuster factory pairing after confirming the Spaniard’s move on 24 June.
The 22-year-old will switch from KTM orange to Ducati red next season, stepping into the most-watched garage in the championship alongside the seven-time MotoGP champion.
Acosta has been marked as one of MotoGP’s defining next-generation riders since winning Moto3 and Moto2 world titles within three years of his Grand Prix debut. He then took Rookie of the Year honours in 2024, finished fourth overall in 2025 and has already collected 13 MotoGP podiums.
Ducati Builds Around Two Generations
Ducati’s move is a statement of succession planning as much as speed. Marquez has already been confirmed with the factory squad for the new era, and Acosta now gives Ducati a younger lead rider with elite development upside.
The official announcement framed Acosta as a long-term Desmosedici project, with Ducati Motor Holding CEO Claudio Domenicali calling him one of MotoGP’s most talented young riders and Ducati Corse general manager Luigi Dall’Igna describing him as the ideal candidate for the team’s future.
That makes 2027 one of the most fascinating intra-team tests on the grid: Marquez brings racecraft, authority and title-winning experience, while Acosta brings the momentum of a rider Ducati clearly believes can shape its next cycle.
MotoGP confirmed the move in its Pedro Acosta Ducati announcement.
