Marc Marquez beat Ai Ogura and Francesco Bagnaia to win the Czech MotoGP at Brno on Sunday, turning a tight late fight into a major title-race statement.
The factory Ducati rider took victory at the Monster Energy Grand Prix of Czechia after a tense scrap with Ogura and team-mate Bagnaia, with the winning margin over the Trackhouse rider reported at just 0.4 seconds.
It was Marquez’s second Grand Prix win of the season and, more importantly, it cut absent championship leader Marco Bezzecchi’s advantage to 40 points, according to the FIM race report from Brno.
Marquez Turns Brno Win Into Title Pressure
Bagnaia led the early phase after passing Ogura and then Marquez, but the race swung when Marquez moved into the lead in the closing stages and held off Ogura’s late pursuit.
Ogura still left Brno with his best MotoGP weekend yet, while Bagnaia completed the podium ahead of Fabio Di Giannantonio. Joan Mir’s fifth place also gave Honda a rare Sunday boost.
The championship now rolls straight towards Assen with Marquez back in range and Bezzecchi needing a response after missing the Czech GP. For Ducati, the message from Brno was blunt: Marquez has turned a recovery mission into a live title threat, and the chasing pack now has a very different problem to solve.
