Alex Palou is leading the XPEL Grand Prix at Road America after starting from pole in Sunday’s NTT IndyCar Series race at Elkhart Lake.
The Chip Ganassi Racing driver is shown at the head of the live order in Wisconsin, with Marcus Armstrong second, David Malukas third, Felix Rosenqvist fourth and Scott McLaughlin fifth, according to the latest FOX Sports live leaderboard.
Palou began the race from first on the grid and is credited with leading, turning Saturday’s qualifying control into the early shape of the race. The green flag was raised at 2.29pm ET, with the Road America race scheduled for 55 laps around the 4.014-mile circuit.
Palou Turns Pole Into Road America Control
The update matters because Palou arrived at Road America with the field already chasing his qualifying form. IndyCar’s own event page noted before the race that the Spaniard had taken five straight poles, matching a run not seen since Alex Zanardi’s Chip Ganassi Racing spell in 1996-97.
Armstrong’s presence in second keeps pressure on Palou, while Malukas running third gives Team Penske a live podium angle. Rosenqvist had been part of the early Road America conversation too, but the latest order has Palou back in the position that most directly shapes the win fight.
With the race still live, the key question is whether Palou can convert track position into another Road America statement, or whether strategy gives Armstrong, Malukas or Rosenqvist a way back into contention.
