Football and Formula 1 worlds have collided yet again, as Arsenal star Declan Rice visited the McLaren Technology Centre to meet reigning world champion Lando Norris. Apart from filming a couple of interesting pieces of content, Rice also presented Norris with a personalised gift to mark their notable collaboration.

The pinnacle of motorsport has always attracted sports royalty, who come to experience the adrenaline and thrill of the sport while positively enhancing the atmosphere and driving commercial appeal. For instance, the most recent football x F1 collab was at the Miami Grand Prix, when Lionel Messi attended it. His major moments from the GP included stopping by the Mercedes garage and meeting Franco Colapinto, making his dream come true.

McLaren and Arsenal jointly posted a selfie on Instagram of Norris and Rice, with the latter having given the former a special present. It was an Arsenal jersey of Rice’s no. 41, signed by him and with McLaren driver’s name written on it. The duo smiled broadly, with Norris holding the jersey’s back towards the camera.

The duo appeared to have filmed a lot of content, with both accounts dropping for fans to savour. For instance, they posted a promotional video of Rice’s Raising the Bar episode 2, where his guest was Norris. In this series, Rice tries to understand other sports, the athletes’ mentality, and the preparation they undergo to deliver excellence on the field or track. His first episode was with  Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.

Norris shared his thoughts on football

In a conversation with BBC Sport, Norris revealed that he was involved in a lot of sports when he was younger. At the time, he was into football and really enjoyed it, apart from racing. As time passed by, he went a bit away from the sport, but he mentioned collecting Match Attax cards, which he used to love doing as a hobby. Moreover, he also used to watch a lot of games at the time. He revealed that recently, he started attending some games, getting a full-fledged experience of the sport.

The interviewer further asked him what position he was in when he used to play rugby. He replied that he used to be a winger as he was away from everyone. Sharing his thoughts on Norris’s answer, Rice added, ” Number 10, I think you’re creative little number 10, behind the striker.”

Formula 1 currently remains on a two-week break and will return directly for the Canada Grand Prix.
