Arvid Lindblad revealed that he has been in contact with Helmut Marko, a former advisor of Red Bull Racing, who made a surprising revelation to him post-Australian Grand Prix.
Although it’s the first year of Lindblad in F1, in his debut itself, he showcased that he has what it takes to be in the sport, as he competed toughly with world champions like Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, and Lando Norris. He finished the race in 8th place, bringing 4 points for Racing Bulls, whereas his teammate, Liam Lawson, completed outside the points.
As the season heads to the Miami Grand Prix, Lindblad currently stands at 11th place, a rank below his teammate. The duo is set to drive a bright yellow livery car, inspired by the Red Bull Summer Edition.
Lindblad on his bond with Marko and his special message
In a conversation with the Beyond the Grid podcast, Lindblad revealed that he’s still in touch with Marko after he left the F1 paddock. He said that he called after the Australian GP and has been closely following up on his races. He added, ” He’s trying to stay more in the shadows and a bit more away from it, but he still knows everything that’s happening.”
The Briton is confident that Marko might make an appearance in a race this year. He is also “sad” that he is no longer a part of the paddock, as they do connect well. Further appreciating Marko’s experience and talent, he elaborated, ““But I think the way I try to look at it, I think it’s really impressive that someone of his age was going to 24 races a year, showing his passion, dedication, love for the sport at his age…” He revealed that Marko gave him a strong message, i.e, “Arvid, everyone in Red Bull is now a Lindblad fan.”
Lindblad reviews his F1 performance up-to-date
In an earlier conversation, Lindblad weighed in on the positives and bad moments in the past three races while revealing that he’s working towards improving his racecraft.
Summing up the races up-to-date, he explained, “I’d sort of summarize it that there’s been quite a few good moments, that have been sort of confidence boosters for me, and sort of shown that I can do a good job. But there’s also been things that haven’t gone so well, which have highlighted the areas to improve.”
Despite the occasional disappointing moments, Lindblad continues to remain confident and is aware that there are areas he needs to work on. However, he considers himself to be in a “nice” place for someone who’s currently in the early part of his rookie year.
