Lewis Hamilton, producer behind Apple’s F1, recently took to social media to react to the movie’s Oscar win in the Best Sound category. The film originally received a total of four Academy Award nominations in the following categories: Sound, Visual Effects, Film Editing, and Best Picture.

This win is significant to him not just as a producer and actor but also as someone who worked closely with Hans Zimmer to develop the soundtrack, which wonderfully captures the sport’s adrenaline rush, mixed emotions, and moments of intensity.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski, the sports-drama movie centres around Sonny Hayes, who gives up on his Formula 1 career after a life-changing accident on track. Thirty years later, his friend and the owner of a struggling Formula 1 team approaches him, offering him a chance to rejoin the sport and compete alongside rookie Joshua Pearce.

Surprisingly, his “yes” to the opportunity not only puts the team back on track but also allows him to redeem himself and face the fears that were holding him back from returning.

What did Hamilton say about F1 Oscar win?

The Oscar for Best Sound went to F1 and team Gareth John, Al Nelson, Gwendolyn Yates Whittle, Gary A. Rizzo, and Juan Peralta. As they took to the stage to accept the honour, they shared a few kind words appreciating those involved in the making of the film and soundtrack.

Peralta also gave a special shoutout to Formula 1 and producer Lewis Hamilton. He said, “Thank you to the Academy. I want to thank Joe Kosinski, Jerry Bruckheimer, Plan B, LEWIS HAMILTON, Formula One, and everyone at Apple for supporting such a fun cinematic experience.”

Hamilton was quick to take to social media to celebrate the win and congratulate the team on their first Oscar. In his story, he wrote, “Major congratulations to the team,” followed by champagne and clapping emojis. The seven-time World Champion wasn’t able to make it to the Oscars as he was busy racing at the Chinese Grand Prix.

A happy weekend for Hamilton

For Hamilton, of course, as a producer, F1 winning an Oscar is a big moment; however, to add a cherry on top, his first podium with Scuderia Ferrari a season later is also remarkable, as most fans have long awaited this sight.

The whole weekend was pretty fruitful for Hamilton. Initially, he finished 3rd in the Chinese Sprint and later qualified third for the Grand Prix. Starting from the second row alongside his teammate Charles Leclerc, they had quite an intense battle on track while fighting to secure a podium.

In the end, Hamilton secured his first podium with Ferrari, alongside George Russell and Kimi Antonelli, who became the second-youngest driver to win a Grand Prix. It was also a special occasion for spectators, who got to witness a Mercedes family podium, as former driver Hamilton and present drivers Russell and Antonelli celebrated together.
