Ferrari reveal 641 inspired livery on F1-75 car for 2022 season

Ferrari has become the latest team to launch its 2022 Formula 1 car designed to meet the all-new technical regulations by unveiling a revised livery on the F1-75.

The Scuderia bounced back from its worst F1 season for four decades in 2020 to finish third in the constructors’ championship last year, holding off rivals McLaren in a season-long duel.

Keen to put the controversy surrounding the legality of its power unit, that led to a secret settlement with the FIA in early 2020, behind them, Ferrari revived its F1 fortunes by putting together a solid campaign, claiming five podiums and two pole positions.

Ferrari’s grip on third place was further boosted by a new hybrid system introduced in Russia, that it ran as a test for this year’s car.

Ferrari team boss Mattia Binotto promised there would be “a lot of innovation” on its 2022 challenger, as the team bids to end its 14-year wait for a world title.

The Italian outfit sticks with its driver line-up of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz for this season, with both proving evenly-matched in the first year alongside each other.

Leclerc, now in his fourth year as a Ferrari driver, scored just one podium finish last year on his way to seventh in the drivers’ championship, but hopes its efforts are rewarded with a title bid in 2022.

Sainz had an impressive first season in red, standing on the podium four times to finish two places ahead of Leclerc in the standings.

Coincidently, Ferrari’s 2022 machine is the team’s first car to feature F1 in the name since 2000, when Michael Schumacher became its first world champion for 21 years.

The F1-75 features a revised livery that is inspired on Ferrari’s 641 car from 1990, with a black front and rear wing.

It is the seventh car to be launched ahead of the 2022 season, leaving Mercedes, Alpine and Alfa Romeo as the only teams yet to reveal their new designs.

Ferrari will give its 2022 car a first run-out at next week’s first pre-season test in Barcelona on February 23-25.
