Kiefer Racing Moto2 team boss Stefan Kiefer tragically passed away on Thursday night in Malaysia.
It is thought Kiefer died in his hotel room, though details on his passing are unclear at present. An investigation into his death is underway.
The Kiefer Racing team has decided to withdraw both Dominique Aegerter and Tarran Mackenzie from this weekend’s Malaysian Grand Prix.
“The circumstances which led to the tragic incident remain unclear for the moment,” a statement from the Kiefer Racing team read.
“With respect to the whole family and all other relatives, Kiefer Racing will not take part at the Malaysian Grand Prix.
“Stefan Kiefer himself was an active rider and after finishing his career, he founded the team together with his brother Jochen.
“Since 2003 Kiefer Racing is an integral part of the FIM Motorcycle World Championship. Stefan Kiefer was highly admired all over the paddock for his always friendly and heartfelt personality and, therefore, will be hardly missed.
“Stefan Kiefer leaves his girlfriend and one son behind. The entire Kiefer Racing Team wants to express their sincere condolence to his family.”

Kiefer Racing won the Moto2 World Championship with Stefan Bradl in 2011, while romping to the 2015 Moto3 title with Danny Kent to end a 38-year wait for another British grand prix title success.
Aegerter posted a heartfelt message on his social media account this morning expressing his shock and sadness at the passing of ‘one of the best bosses’.
“I’m just lost for words about what happened last night,” he said.
“It’s a huge shock for all of us and we will miss Stefan incredibly. My thought go out to his family and friends.
“He definitely was one of the best bosses I ever had, a fantastic person and a great friend. We’ll stay strong all together in his memory. R.I..P Stefan Kiefer.”
