Canet takes victory in red flagged Moto3 race

Aron Canet has taken his third victory of the season in Moto3 at Silverstone in a race that was red flagged late on.

Juanfran Guevara and Bo Bendsneyder were involved in a late incident at Brooklands which saw the red flag come out on the final lap. Canet was leading over the line on the penultimate lap, so was handed the race victory.

The race itself was a tight affair, with the top 20 being separated by only two seconds. The race lead changed frequently, with Romano Fenati, Joan Mir, Gabriel Rodrigo and Jorge Martin all taking to the front at some point.

However, it would be Canet who took the race win, with teammate Enea Bastianini coming home in second place. The Italian took his first podium of what has been a disappointing season. Jorge Martin finished third, with Gabriel Rodrigo finishing fourth.

Championship leader Joan Mir would end up in fifth place ahead of teammate Livio Loi. Polesitter Romano Fenati would finish seventh, allowing Mir to extend his championship lead.

Andrea Migno was eighth, with Phillip Oettl finishing ninth. Fabio di Giannantonio would end up in tenth place, followed by Tatsuo Suzuki and Adam Norrodin.
