Charles Leclerc dominated the Formula 2 feature race at Spa while title rival Oliver Rowland was pipped to second place by less than a tenth by Artem Markelov.
The Monegasque driver started on pole for the seventh time this season and maintained the lead on the opening lap despite suffering from a slow getaway.
Rowland clipped the back of Leclerc’s car into the first corner, meaning the Brit had to contend with minor front wing damage for the remainder of the race.
Leclerc won by over 25 seconds to extend his championship lead to 66 points over Rowland.
Rowland’s team-mate Nicholas Latifi was due to start from the front row but a mechanical issue meant he never left the pits and couldn’t start the race.
Luca Ghiotto finished in fourth after conceding the final podium spot to his team-mate with just a handful of laps to go. Antonio Fuoco was fifth at the chequered flag – his best result since his maiden F2 podium in Austria.
The Racing Engineering duo of Gustav Malja and Nyck de Vries finished in sixth and seventh with MP Motorsport’s Sergio Sette Camara taking his maiden points finish in eighth. Consequently, The Brazilian is currently due to start from pole position in tomorrow’s sprint race.
Series returnee Roberto Merhi picked up his first points of the season in ninth with Norman Nato beating Santino Ferrucci to the final point.
Other than Latifi who failed to start, Jordan King was the only other retirement after receiving a puncture in the opening lap carnage.
