Mir continues to dominate after Friday practice in Austria

Joan Mir continued his dominance of the Moto3 world championship by ending the Friday practice sessions on top.

The Spaniard wrestled some quite difficult conditions on his way to taking first, with the weather in Austria changing very quickly. The end of the session saw everyone in the pits, as the rain re-emerged again.

Adam Norrodin finished second on the timesheets, a great result for the Malaysian rider. Enea Bastianini was third whilst Mir’s championship rival Romano Fenati was fourth.

Gabriel Rodrigo was fifth, with Phillip Oettl was sixth. Maria Herrera put in a great performance to finish in seventh place, the Spaniard looking to have the pace going into qualifying tomorrow.

Jules Danilo finished down in eight place, with Tony Arbolino finishing in ninth. Fabio di Giannantonio was tenth, with Bo Bendsneyder eleventh. John McPhee would finish down in thirteenth, behind Tatsuki Suzuki.

Qualifying and the final free practice session will happen tomorrow at the Red Bull Ring for the Moto3 class. Moto3 qualifying starts at 11:35 BST.
