Sebastian Vettel wants to discuss the events of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix with Lewis Hamilton after their controversial clash.
On the second safety restart, Vettel hit the back of Hamilton’s Mercedes believing that the Briton brake-checked him, then proceeded to pull alongside to gesture Hamilton before running into the side of him.
This prompted the stewards to hand the German a 10-second stop/go penalty for his transgressions. The FIA later proved Hamilton did not brake-check Vettel at any point behaved the same way in all three restarts behind the safety car.
Vettel told Motorsport.com: “I don’t have a problem with him, I respect him a lot for the driver he is.
“I don’t think that was his intention [to damage Vettel’s front wing] because he’s also risking damage to his car, and his race is over.
“Now is not the right time to talk. I’ll do that just with him and clear it and move on.Maybe I’m not clever enough but I’m not complicated. I’m willing to sort it out with him, I don’t think there’s much to sort out.”

Having been handed a further three penalty points on his superlicence, Vettel is now up to nine points for the past 12 months, this will mean if he were to receive three more points at the next race in Austria, he will have to serve a race ban.
Vettel also does not believe the events that happened in Baku will not harm his image as a driver, however, he maintains his belief that Hamilton should also have been given a penalty.
“We’re here to race,” the German added. “We’re grown-ups and people expect us to race and use our elbows, that’s what people want.
“Here and there you might get a bit close but people want real overtaking not just us driving past. “I enjoyed the race but I don’t think it’s the right thing that I got a penalty and he didn’t.”
